Mildred L. Kontour
We celebrated the life of Mildred Johnson Kontour, 97, our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and sister and aunt, of Aurora, CO passed away December 8, 2013 from age related causes. Mildred was born June 11, 1916 on the homestead in Matheson, Colorado to Daniel and Dollie Highly Johnson.. She attended grade school in Matheson and received her 8th grade graduation certificate.
Mildred married Frank Kontour on April 7, 1934 and lived in Buick, Colorado for a short time before moving to Deer Trail and raised two children, Floyd and Norma.
Mildred is survived by her son, Floyd and wife Beverly, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Her daughter Norma Koepke and son in law Dan preceded her in death. Survivors also include Dollyann Johnson Grout and Shirley Johnson Steinke. She was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers which included her oldest brother, Kenneth, who passed seven minutes after her death.
While we sorely grieve her loss, we rejoice that she is free of a body that could no longer communicate her elegance, laughter, dignity and fierce life force.
