Mildred Krug Whitcomb, 79, formerly of West Bend died Sunday April 13, 2008 at the West Bend Care Center.
Mildred Waterman, the daughter of Earl Waterman and Nellie (Riker) Shenafelt was born February 27, 1929 in Tripoli, Iowa. She received her eduation in Clarinda, Iowa. Mildred spent her life in West Bend until 1983 and during that time was married twice, to Duane Wilcoxon and George Krug. She then married Bill Whitcomb and moved to Spencer in 1983. She had been a resident of the North Care Center in Humboldt for nine years before moving to the West Bend Care Center in December of 2007. Mildred was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and worked as a CNA at the West Bend Care Center and the Emmetsburg Care Center.
She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Spencer. Survivors inlcude her children: Walter Wilcoxon , Emmetsburg,IA Janice (Chris) Westergaard of Rolfe, IA, Dale (Cindy) Wilcoxon, Emmetsburg, IA, Linda Sego, Des Moines, IA, Kenny (Pat) Krug , Emmetsburg, IA, and David (Staci) Krug of West Enfield, Maine, a brother Melvin, sister Sylvia, 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, 2 infant daughters, brothers Kenny, Harry and Donald, a grandson and great grandson.
