Mildred J. Hamstra, age 95, a lifelong resident of DeMotte passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Oak Grove Retirement Village. Mildred was born in DeMotte, Indiana on April 24, 1921 the daughter of Richard and Ricca (Hoffman) Tysen. She was a graduate of DeMotte High School, Class of 1939. Mildred married the love of her life, William T. Hamstra on January 22, 1946 in DeMotte.
He preceded her in death in 2006. Mildred was a member of First Reformed Church of DeMotte, a past Sunday School teacher, and member of the church choir. She was also a past president of Willing Workers. Mildred is survived by her children: Warren Allen (Karen) Hamstra of Wheatfield, IN; Thomas Wayne (Mary Kay) Hamstra of DeMotte, IN; 7 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 3 brothers, and a sister.
