Mildred Ione (Johnson) Miller, 89, of Wiota, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30th, 2002, at the Heritage House in Atlantic Iowa. She was united in marriage to Robert Miller on August 12th, 1956. They moved to the farm south of Wiota after getting married, and then later moved to Atlantic in 1989.
Millie enjoyed talking on the phone. It didn’t matter who it was, she could talk for hours while moving around the house baking and housework. Millie would always wrap up the conversation with “Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle!”
You could bet that if anyone stopped by, even unannounced, there would be freshly baked brownies, cookies, or pies. The grandchildren’s favorite were her homemade yeast rolls on holidays. Chris always enjoyed coming to Iowa for the summer but would come back to Colorado a little heavier from Grandma’s cooking.
Millie enjoyed helping with the kid’s activities. She was a 4-H leader in Pam & Peggy’s 4-H clubs and a Co-Cub Scout leader in David’s Club.
Millie was proceeded in death by: Parents, Marvin and Cecile Johnson; brother, Duane Johnson; and Great Granddaughter Alivia Jo Beschorner.
Millie is survived by: her husband, Robert Miller of Atlantic; son, David Miller (Karen) of Atlantic and their children, Darren Miller (Lynnette) of Atlantic and Kaley King (Dakotah) of Omaha; daughter, Pam Rodriguez of Atlantic and her children, Chris Schuler(Chrissy) of Grainger, Joel and Jared Rodriguez both of Atlantic; daughter, Peggy Beschorner (Kevin) of Wiota and their children, Adam Beschorner (Kelsey ) of Wiota and Amy Beschorner of Omaha; also including 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Bauldauff of Omaha, Mary Jane Peterson of Shelby, IA and Eileen Killpack of Neola, Iowa.
