Mildred Elizabeth Underwood Smelley, 84, a resident of Crawfordville, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 5, 1931, in Milledgeville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Clare Underwood and Louise Lillian Blount Underwood. Her husband, Ottis Smelley, also preceded her in death. She was an accountant and was a member of Aenon Baptist Church. A very God-fearing woman, she loved yard work, planting and re-planting flowers, fishing, and camping; but most importantly, she loved her family. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Freeman, and her husband, Les, who she considered a son; grandchildren, Jason and Laura Freeman, Brian and Amber Freeman; great-grandchildren, Megan Rogers, Amanda Rogers, Makenzie Freeman, Jason Freeman, Jr., Maybell Freeman, and Paisley Freeman; her beloved niece, Linda Hartstfield, a daughter, Janeth, and Howard Campbell.
