Mildred Held Mildred Bauer Held, age 97 of Aviston, formerly of Centralia, passed away Friday evening, January 15, 2016, at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston.

Mildred was born April 1, 1918, in Brookside Township, daughter of Horace and Harriett Lucy (Frazier) Boreup.

She married Lawrence W. Bauer, on June 22, 1940, in Hillsboro, Il and he preceded her in death, April 6, 1965. She then married Oliver Held, in Mt. Vernon, IL, on January 22, 1972 and he preceded her in death, April 6, 1998.

She is survived by her son Charles Bauer and wife Christine of Aviston, daughter Connie Hess and husband Charles of Centralia, four grandchildren Pamela Hess of Rochester, MN, Michelle Hagen and husband Adrian of Aviston, IL, Michael Bauer, Breese, IL, Theodore Bauer of Aviston, IL, great grandchildren Tyler Larkin of MN, Andrew Hagen and Nicole Hagen of Aviston, IL, and several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two brothers Raymond Boreup, Theodore Boerup, and four sisters, Arminda Roper, Mae Bierman, Hazel Bierman, and Helen Toedte.

Mildred was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She retired from Hollywood Candy Company, and was also a beautician. Her hobbies included pinochle, dancing the Waltz and Polka, camping, fishing, and traveling around the country. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
