The daughter of the late Frank and Lydia (Gray) Poland was born November 23, 1925 in Midland where she was raised and educated; graduating from Midland High School in 1943. On August 2, 1946 Millie married the love of her life William N. “Bill” Post at the First Baptist Church. They shared 64 wonderful quality filled years together before Bill died in 2011.

Bill and Millie had built four houses. Millie’s favorite being the home on Wixom Lake that started as a summer cottage and became their full residence in 1969. The family has many happy memories of times spent there. Millie had worked as a cashier/bookkeeper for Thompson Mercantile, then Chemical Bank; eventually quitting to stay home with her children. Millie cherished her family above all else.

Bowling was an important part of Millie’s life with many friendships formed along the way. She began bowling in 1947 and continued until her health deteriorated. She enjoyed travelling to the State and National Tournaments and if there was a casino nearby, she was ready to hit the slot machines. Millie was accompanied by her daughter to many National Tournaments thusly creating cherished memories for both of them. She was named Bowler of the Year in 1961 but her proudest achievement was being inducted into the Midland Bowling Hall of Fame in 1986.

Millie is survived by her son Dave (and friend Nadine) Post; daughter Sue (Alan) Hoon; grandchildren Jeff Bacon, Traci (Scott) Erskine, Bridget (Barton W.) Morris Jr., Tiffane (Dr. Antonino) Colombo; great grandchildren Aubrey, Lauren, Heather, Megan, Samantha and Jeff Jr.; brother, Nathan (Joyce) Poland of Midland; sister, Glenna Inman of NC; and sister in law Mary Poland of Midland. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased her daughter Cheryl Bacon; by brothers, Orland and Paul and brother in law Rex Inman.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who assisted Millie and Bill while they resided in Sanford. (Debby, Teryn, Debra, Brenda, Suzy and Nancy) They would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Mary, Rose and the caring staff at Marshall Manor for making the final six months of Millie’s life so enjoyable. As Millie often said, “It wasn’t home, but it was a nice place to be.” Millie often said how much she missed Bill. Now they are together again along with their daughter Cheryl who died in 2010.
