On Friday, March 27, 2015, Mrs. Milagros De La Caridad Barreto went home to be with Jesus. As she entered into eternity, she was surrounded by her loving family in her home in Metairie, LA. Mila (as she was affectionately known) was born in 1927 in Santiago De Cuba where she later became a great teacher. Everyone who met Mila loved her. She had a smile that would brighten any room! Milagros was the beloved wife of the late Virgilio “Yiyo” Barreto; Daughter of the late Tacito and Leticia Portuondo. Mila was the last surviving sibling of Angel, Zoila, Alberto, Manuela and Leticia. She is survived by her loving and dedicated children, Sergio Moreno, Grisell Moreno, Daniel Moreno, (daughter-in-law Nanette Moreno) and Noemi Barreto Moore; her grandchildren Daniel V. Moreno, Alexander W. Moore, Alexis Moreno and Jordan Moreno and her great-grandchild Nicco Moreno. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Americare Family Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. In particular her nurse Jennifer and CNA Stephanie, who went above and beyond in their care for Mila.
