Mickey M. (Orsinger) Vitale, 88, of Peru, passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 5, 2019, at Heritage Healthcare Center in Peru with her family at her side. Mrs. Vitale was born May 5, 1931, in LaSalle to Louis and Alberta Orsinger.
She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School. She married John D. Vitale on November 21, 1953, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle. Mrs. Vitale was a loving wife and mother and she was very talented. She was an excellent cook and baker and assisted her husband as a chef in the kitchen at their restaurants, Vitale’s House of Pizza in Mesa, AZ, and Palermo’s Pizza in Peru. She also worked at Club Sorrento in Peru. She was a great artist and enjoyed drawing, painting figurines, and interior decorating. She also enjoyed reading. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Peru.
Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, Mark (Debbie) Vitale of Dalzell and Leonard Vitale of Peru; one daughter-in-law, Judy Vitale of Dana; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Robin, Renee, Misty, Jack, and Jenna; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Dorothy) Orsinger of Ames, IA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Vitale on January 16, 2019; one grandson, Johnny Vitale on July 5, 2017; two great-granddaughters, Katelyn and Ruby and one brother, Louis Orsinger.
