Jeannie Michiko Kumagai Sweet, 80, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 26, at her home.
Jeannie was born Michiko to Tsuruichi and Shigui Kumagai on March 17, 1932, in Heiki, Japan. She was raised in Sasebo, Japan. She graduated from Fukuoka University, and was attending the Fukuoka University Law School when she married Fredrick Guy Sweet on April 27, 1959, at Brady Air Base in Japan.
She worked over 13 years full time at Northwest Fabrics and worked as an election judge for each election for at least 15 years.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Fredrick of Great Falls; her daughter, Karen Wheatley of Great Falls; and grandchildren Christi of Great Falls, JC of Denver; son Curtis (Mary) Sweet of Great Falls; and grandchildren Arthur, Joshua and Ben all of Great Falls and Chris of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter Tammie (Jay) Anderson of Wright, Wyo., and grandchildren Wyatt, Garrett and Clara all of Wright; and sisters Atsuko Kumagai, of Heiki, Japan and Setsuko (Ryuichi) Tsuzi of Sasebo, Japan.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tsuruichi and Shige Kumagai; brother Masayuki Kumagai; and sister Kiyoko Uchiza.
