On Friday, September 3, 2021, Michelle Lynn Ussery, an adored wife, daughter, sister and mother, passed away at Piedmont Newnan Hospital at the age of 47. Born on March 28, 1974, to George “Marty” Whitten and Theodoshia “Theo” Whitten, Michelle was the eldest of four children. In 2009, she married her high school sweetheart, John Ussery, who was her best friend and favorite travel partner. She followed her admiration for the medical field, becoming a radiologist technician and working in several hospitals and clinical offices throughout Alabama and metro-Atlanta. Michelle had numerous hobbies and passions, but among these she loved most were baking, hiking, rooting for the Falcons, decorating for Christmas, and spending time with family. There is only one word to capture the manner through which Michelle lived her life, and that is “love.” Michelle was generous, always finding ways to lift others up through thoughtful gifts and gestures. She had an intangible yet magical quality to her that made everyone around her feel fulfilled and appreciated. More than anything, she was an innate caregiver, putting others’ needs before her own. She never left without saying “I love you,” and she will forever be missed by all whose lives she touched. Michelle was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Whitten. She is survived by her husband, John Ussery; children, Justin Grant, Kerrie Head, and Thomas “Dylan” Head; parents, Marty and Theo Whitten; granddaughter, Chloe Grant; brothers, James “Sammy” Martinez and John Whitten; and several other family members which she loved deeply.
