Mrs. Michelle Louise (Bond) Pennington, 50, of Brunswick, GA, went to be with the Lord from her home on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
Michelle was born in Avon Park, FL on April 3, 1962, to Louie Edmund Bond and Wanda Louise Bond. After graduating in 1980 from Brunswick High School in Brunswick, GA, she served as a Specialist in the United States Army from 1982 to 1985. She was stationed at Fort Bliss, TX and assigned to A Battery, 1st Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery as a Hercules and Patriot Missile crew member. Michelle attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. She received the Beebe Award in Geology for academic excellence, among other honors. While her husband served with 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, KY, Michelle volunteered and served as Vice President and other positions in the Family Readiness Group (FRG). During her service with the FRG, Michelle was awarded the Post FRG Volunteer of the Year Award for Special Forces by the Fort Campbell Post Commander. She received several letters of appreciation for her faithful service and dedication. Michelle also graduated as a yoga instructor and volunteered her time as a fitness instructor for the athletes at Fort Campbell High School. In her spare time, Michelle was a poetry dilettante, with a number of publications.
Michelle is survived by her husband, CW4 Robert Edward Pennington of Brunswick, GA; three sons, Gary Edmund and his wife Geri, Matthew Ryan and Justin Thomas Lee Pennington; three grandchildren, Grayson Robert Wayne Pennington, Trinity, and Trey. She is also survived by both parents; brother, CSM Vincent Edmund Bond, his wife Diana and five sons; siblings-in-law Steve, Gary, Jimmy, John, Krissy, Nancy Tuya and Jeff Ohmstead; as well as several loving aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Jeffrey Pennington.
