Michele Suzanne Louard was born on August 12, 1949, in New York, New York, to Lillian M. (Dyer) Louard and Warren Gilbert Louard. Also known as Mikki, Michele became an ancestor on February 22, 2022, after an extended illness.
Michele graduated from Hempstead High School in Hempstead, New York, in 1967 and went on to study psychology at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in June 1971. At Lincoln, Michele met and fell in love with Walter “Butch” Malone, Jr. Michele and Butch moved to Washington, DC, where they married in February 1973 and gave birth to their only child, Kamau Asim Malone, in November 1975.
Michele was an excellent employee who received various awards and commendations throughout her career. While employed at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, she earned the Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Mission Support. She retired from Customs and Border Protection as a Human Resources Specialist in August 2018. Outside of work, Michele enjoyed reading spy fiction, listening to music, solving word puzzles, and watching HGTV.
Michele is preceded in death by her parents Lillian and Warren, stepmother Cleopatra Louard, husband Walter Malone, Jr., sister Angelique Louard, and brother F. Michael Mock. Michele is survived by her dedicated son, Kamau (Lhatoya); grandchildren, Malcolm and Jason; sisters, Gale McLauglin and Nannette Deas; brother, Pierre Louard (Jennell); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her always.
