Michele “Michael” DeSciscio, 66, of Willimantic, passed away on Saturday, (August 14, 2004), after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 5, 1938 in Volturara Appula, Italy, the son of late Salvatore Fracesco and Marianna (Cifelli) DeSciscio. He started to work as a mason at an early age of 13. He was enlisted in the Italian Army before marrying and coming to the United States in August of 1961. Where he continued his skilled trade as a mason, he worked for the University of Connecticut for over 9 years and later as a self employed mason contractor. People who hired him had the opportunity to see his artistic talent, and quality workmanship in the stone walls, fireplaces, patios, acoustic plastering and many other types of masonry that he poured his heart and soul into. He leaves behind his four children and their spouses Anna Chick and her husband, Richard of Mansfield, Sal DeSciscio and his wife Jo-Ann of Columbia, Michael DeSciscio and his wife Lisa of Willimantic and Rosa McCall and her husband James of Mansfield; his former wife Michelina (DeSiato) DeSciscio of Mansfield and 10 grandchildren, Michael, Alissa and Steven Chick; Connor DeSciscio; Jenna, Ashley and Lily DeSciscio and Jonathan, Justin and James McCall. He was predeceased by a sister Maria Sanita DeSciscio of Volturara Appula, Italy. And also leaves behind his brothers and their spouses, Antonio DeSciscio and his wife Carmelina of Volturara Appula, Italy and Pasquale DeSciscio and his wife Antonietta of Willimantic; nieces and nephews, Annamaria (DeSciscio) D’Arrissi and spouse Michele of Italy, Marianna (DeSciscio) Heon and spouse Marc of Phoenix, Arizona, Salvatore AJ DeSciscio and Dino Luca DeSciscio.
