Michele Ann Moro, M.D., age 61, of Albuquerque, N.M., died peacefully Nov. 10, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She tried everything that conventional or alternative medicine might offer to overcome her disease but in the end was taken too soon.

Michele will be remembered by those who loved her as a free-spirited woman who held onto her values. She was intelligent, knowledgeable, and full of wisdom. She worked quietly in the background and did not seek recognition. She had a timeless, clever sense of humor and could bring a smile to many if they were lucky enough to grasp one of her dry jokes. Michele’s “love language” was gift-giving and she found joy in making others happy. Friends and family often received surprise packages from her with gifts that were thoughtful, generous, witty, and always appropriate. Michele always seemed to know what people wanted or needed, often before they did.

Michele had a sense of adventure, and she enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and Europe. She loved to grow herbs in her garden and try new recipes with a good glass of wine.

Michele earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Moravian College in Pennsylvania, and then a Master’s degree in Public Health, and Doctorate of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She completed residencies in surgery and anesthesia at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She became a board-certified anesthesiologist working for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA and the University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque.

Michele was preceded in death by her father, Bernard V. Moro Sr., in 2015, and her mother E. Kathleen Moro, earlier this year. She is survived by her brother Bernard Vincent Moro, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, Chadds Ford, PA, and her sister Nadine Conrad, and her husband Bob, of West Grove, PA. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Rachel “Sid” Moro, Philadelphia, PA; Bernard Vincent Moro III, Denver, CO; Mitchell Conrad, a student at York College, in York, PA, and Audrey Conrad, a student at West Chester University in West Chester, PA. She is also survived by many loving aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and her dog, Fiona.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Michele’s long-time friend Lou Tanner, who loyally supported and devotedly cared for Michele throughout her illness and final days.
