Michael is survived by his wife, Lisa of Newton; two sisters: Vicky (Scott) Mulbrook of Newton and Connie Smith of Newton; and Michael’s nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis G. and Arlene Frances (Svejda) Coonts; and his grandparents.
Michael was a graduate of Gladbrook High School in Gladbrook, Iowa. He worked as a crane operator for the Pella Corporation for many years.
