Michael W. Crain, 72, of Galesburg, died on Sunday, August 4, 2019, 2:55 AM, at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg.
Michael was born on April 11, 1947, in Taylorville. He was the son of Henry and Nora (Conley) Crain. Mike is survived by his long-time friend, La Nita Pollard of Galesburg; daughters, Joy, Tara of Peoria and Wendy of Arkansas; five brothers, Dave (Ruth Ann) Crain of Ohio, Larry (Kathy) Crain of Orion, Pat (Lori) Crain of Florida, Steve Crain of Kankakee and Jarrett Thomas of Batavia; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike attended Roseville and Avon schools. He was a member of Avon High class of ’66. Mike worked as a contractor for many years. He retired as an insurance agent in 2009. After retirement, Mike kept busy as working as a greeter at Walmart. He always had a smile on his face. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He loved to attended his morning coffee group; was a member of the gun club. Mike loved to work with his hands. He enjoyed remodeling and carpentry. He also loved to go for drives in the country and collecting antiques.
