Michael Wallace Tams, 56, passed away December 1, 2020 following surgery at the University of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City.
Mike loved the Sundance Film Festival and absolutely loved volunteering there. He had the opportunity to meet many amazing people who quickly became cherished friends. Mike also volunteered countless hours helping out at Ruff Haven Animal Crisis Shelter where he assisted with animal rescue and supporting animals and owners with loving support during their times of need. He could also be found lending a hand at Gracie’s with Geeks Who Drink, quiz shows and calling Bingo throughout the valley.
He truly treasured all of his friends. He was smart, loving, compassionate, funny and often described as “larger than life.” He loved to cook and entertain. He took a break from the tech world and ventured into food service at Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que in Layton and Salt Lake; but soon realized he was a computer man!
He is survived by his parents, Ken and Myra Tams, His brother “Little Bub” Kevin and Marnie and niece, Kenlie, nephews and their families, Kory and McKinzie (Kasen), Shelby and Ronni (Jaxyn and Talyn), Levi and Taylor (Rome Lou). Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was the best uncle in the world and enjoyed seeing the kids grow up.
Mike’s pride and joy was his dog Dexter who was elected as the “PAWlitical Mayor,” representing the homeless animals, or pets in need in Salt Lake County. He was preceded in death by his first Beagle Baxter.
