Michael T. Miragliuolo of Lumberton died Thursday November 12, 2015 at Virtua Memorial Hospital, Mt. Holly at the age of 71. Born in Riverside, Mr. Miragliuolo was a longtime resident of Mt. Holly and Lumberton. Michael was an army veteran of the Vietnam War.
For the majority of his military life, Mike was known respectfully as Sgt. “M”; wherever and with whomever you would speak with regarding Mike, it was always Sgt. “M”. He served in Vietnam with the infamous “173 Infantry Regiment”, known throughout Southeast Asia and he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB). When Mike returned from the war zone, he served another 29 years in various positions such as Drill Sergeant, NCO for IC recruitment, enlistment and retention.
He retired as a Sergeant First Class. Upon retiring, Sgt. M found the way to continue to serve his country and the military. He was hired to work in the Burlington County Veteran’s Service Office as a VSO. He assisted fellow veterans in filing claims and obtaining benefits and services to which they were entitled to from 2003 to 2010, when he again retired. Sgt. M was a highly respected member of various veteran organizations and a “life member” of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans and the State ESGR. He was also a member of the Mt. Holly Elks.
Mike is predeceased by his brother John, he is survived by his wife Diane (nee Beatty), his daughter Chelsea Miragliuolo and her husband Thomas Blakely, step daughter Crystal Bean, grandson Fred Powell, brother and sister in law Leonard and Mary Jo Miragliuolo, sister in law Judith Miragliuolo as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
