Michael Sopchak Jr., of Milford, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2007, in the West Haven Veteran’s Hospital. He was born on September 25, 1917, to the late Michael and Veronica Varholy Sopchak Sr. in Bridgeport. He proudly served in the US Army from April 10, 1942 to December 13, 1945, serving in the Northern Solomons Campaign on Guadalcanal. Before retiring, he was employed by the Sun Oil Company in Bridgeport for 27 years. An active member of the community, he was a writer for the Milford Citizen, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, a member of the Milford Senior Center, and the VFW in Stratford.
