Mike Raymond Letendre, a longtime resident of Marlborough, MA, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, aged 70 years.
Born in Hudson, MA on May 24, 1951, he was the oldest of six children born to the late Raymond and Marie (Lesieur) Letendre. Michael graduated from Marlborough High School with the Class of 1969, and over the years, earned numerous computer science certifications.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 26, 1971, and proudly served his country both at home and abroad during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge on November 8, 1972, Michael began his career in computer technology at Digital, and went on to work for Wang and Raytheon, then finished his career as Head of McAfee Security at State Street Bank in Quincy, until his retirement in 2012.
Mike loved music of all genres, and played in bands throughout his youth. He continued to jam with many of those very same friends throughout his life.
He loved everything about nature, especially being outdoors, fishing, and walking evergreen-lined trails. A true math geek and science freak, he always had a special interest in geology and gemology. He was an active member and Vice President of The Micromounters of New England club, and for many years, enjoyed identifying, collecting and cataloging rare minerals with fellow members.
Michael enjoyed helping others and building new friendships.
He is survived by his two sons, David Letendre and Matthew Letendre, his daughter, Julie Braswell and her husband Pastor Chad Braswell, and David’s girlfriend, Carmen Marcano, all of Marlborough; two sisters, Jean Fish and her husband Daniel of Hopedale, and Joanne Schulte of Marlborough; three brothers, Richard ‘Dicky’ Letendre of York, Maine, Gary Letendre of Hopedale, and James ‘Jimmy’ Letendre of Marlborough; and two beloved granddaughters, Rylie Braswell and Mackenzie Braswell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
