He is survived by his wife, Donna Slawson Pynes; two sons, Michael Edward Pynes, Jr. and Wesley Allen Pynes; one daughter, Taylor Michelle Kennedy; his mother, Rose Marie Alexander; four sisters, Leigh (Nathan) Ragsdale, Melissa (Lee) Primm, Rachael Alexander, and Stephanie (Steve) Nelson; one granddaughter, Ma’Ryah LaShea Pynes, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
