Michael R. “Pops” Campbell, 71, of Elkhart, passed away after a courageous battle with Cancer on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Goshen on August 12, 1951, to the late Robert Campbell and the late Betty (Royce) Ferrell.

Pops was survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sheila Pappas; children, Jessie Campbell, Ginger Campbell, Ron Pappas, Rose (David) Pappas, Rocky Martin, and Dawn Sturgil; several extended grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Jeff Campbell; faithful canine companion, Lucy; and several friends and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Campbell and sister, Teena McGuire.

Michael was lovingly known by his family as, “Pops”, “Papa”, or simply “Dad” but to those who knew his CB hanger name, he was known as the “White Knight.” In the drag race world, Pops proudly drove his ’79 Camaro on the Osceola drag strip with his family.

Pops worked as a truck driver for 45 years and enjoyed the places he traveled to on the open road. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at the zoo and out on the ball-field. Pops loved spending time with his wife, Sheila, especially when they would travel or go on fishing trips together. He was known for his wickedly dry sense of humor and could have a room busting a gut after they figured out he was joking around with them. Pops will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
