Major Michael Peralta Perez Jr., 90, passed away peacefully in his home on January 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife, family, and caregivers.
Michael was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 15, 1926. There he met his life long love, Anna, his wife of 64 years. Michael was a highly decorated war veteran. He joined the Navy as a Corpsman (field medic), serving a Marine Corp unit during the Pacific Campaign in WWII. Later he became an officer in the Air Force and flew hundreds of bomber (SAC) missions during the Cold War, cargo airlift (MAC) missions during the Vietnam War, and Air Rescue missions from the Azores off the coast of Portugal. In 1970 he retired and moved his family to Cocoa Beach. A friend to all, during his life he was also a fireman, commercial sign painter, correctional officer, college instructor (BCC), classic car restorer, marine salesman, and home restorer. His desire for knowledge and general curiosity was relentless throughout his life. However, Michael put family first and focused much time, energy, and love on his sons and grandsons.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Michael P. Perez and Henrietta G. Perez, brothers Rudolph G. Perez, Richard G. Perez, and Henry G. Perez, and granddaughter Jenna Perez.
Michael is survived by his wife Anna Cavazos Perez of Cocoa Beach, sons Michael R. Perez (Linda) of Cocoa Beach, and Mark P. Perez (Sherife) of San Francisco, grandsons Michael D. Perez (Christine) of St. Petersburg, and Matthew C. Perez, of Tampa, great-grandson Michael C. Perez of St. Petersburg, brother Robert G. Perez (Gina) of San Antonio, and nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he held dear.
