Michael P. Jennings, age 46 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 1, 1975, in Olney Illinois to Homer and Virginia (Ginny) Jennings. He was 46 years young.
Mike is a 1993 graduate of East Richland High School in Olney. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois and PhD from Purdue, one with a side of basketball and both with excellence in his field. He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Scripps Research Institute. He joined the faculty of the University of Alabama in 2003 where he taught, inspired, befriended, and supported his students, staff, and faculty until his death.
“I was just meant to be a girl dad.” he said on multiple occasions. And he was. Caring, kind, thoughtful, patient. All the things his three girls could ever need.
