Michael Odell Newton
Michael Odell Newton was born on March 3, 1957. He departed this life on June 22, 2020 at his home in Clinton, Maryland. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Newton (Broadnax) and Odell Newton. He attended Potomac Senior High School where he later joined the United States Air Force in 1975. After his honorable discharge in 1977 he later ventured into law enforcement with the State of Virginia then later became a security officer with Chevy Chase Bank. Michael’s biggest enjoyment was working at Washington Adventist Hospital under the tutelage of Mr. Walter Hawkins. Mike really enjoyed his job and his coworkers and anyone he came in contact with. Mike was a loving and quiet spirited person packed with so much knowledge that you could open a bookstore with just the knowledge he had in his head. Mike was a total history guru and he didn’t mind educating people about the “truth” of what is going on in the world. Mike made friends wherever he went. People were drawn to him just by him being himself.
Mike had a passion for his favorite pastime and that was the love of fishing. His favorite fishing spot was Colton’s Point in St. Mary’s County, Md. When the weather broke, he made sure his fishing gear was ready and would head down to the pier and whomever wanted to go with him, he made sure they had what they needed especially first time fishermen. But he did let people know, if it gets too hot or if the fish start biting really good, you might want to drive yourself because I’m going to be down here awhile. Many of his friends and coworkers wanted to go fishing with him.
His other favorite pastime was “Hereee Comesssss Jeopardy”. Between the hours of 7:30pm – 8:00pm don’t call him, don’t text him, don’t drive by the house looking for him, that was his jeopardy time. He loved that game show so much and he knew all the answers because they were pertaining to history.
Michael loved his family and friends dearly. Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father. He leaves to cherish his sister Rita Watson, Niece Tyesha Dixon and Nephew Donte Dixon; cousin Rev. Billy Newton, great nieces Skylar Dixon and Leah Marbury and a host of relatives and friends.
