Michael Limongello of Toms River, NJ died on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Born in Newark, NJ August 19, 1922, he lived in Bloomfield before retiring to Toms River 19 years ago.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Carmen Roman Limongello; his parents Pascal and Laura Limongello; brothers Ralph, Jerry, Victor, Patrick; sisters Genoveve (Dolly) Cece and Eleanor (Teri) Scoppettuolo.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Ann Limongello and his three pride and joy grandchildren Lisa Ann, Michele-Rose, and Michael – Nicholas Limongello, all at home; his sister Lorraine Stampe of Belleville and sister-in-law Joanne Limongello of Toms River. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a second-class petty officer aboard the USS Comet. He received 2 Bronze Stars, the Liberation Medal, and several other medals including the NJ Distinguished Medal of Honor. He began his career as a glazer but after an injury going into the food truck business earning himself the name “Sausage Man” where he had his lunch truck parked between the Newark Courthouse and Jail on Nelson Place for over 25 years before retiring and moving to Toms River. He was a fabulous dance instructor for Arthur Murrays dance studio and was a communicant of St. Luke’s RC Church, Toms River. Keep singing: “Come and sit by my side if you love me”.
