Michael Lawrence Taylor, 58, of Durham, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was born on July 18, 1959 in New Haven, one of eight siblings, to Kathleen (Reilly) Taylor and the late Edward Taylor.

Along with his mother, Michael leaves behind his wife, Monique (Bastien) Taylor, of 19 years; his son, Brendan Michael Taylor; step-children; Danielle (Wetherell) Monty, her husband Christopher Monty and their daughter, Sasha Marie Monty; Michael JohnWetherell Jr., his wife Alissa (Krom) Wetherell and their children Mikaela Elizabeth Wetherell and Michael John Wetherell, III;and Carrie (Wetherell) Garrigus and her husband Daniel Garrigus. He is also survived by his Aunty Dorothy Reilly and his siblings: Ned Taylor, his twin brother Timothy Taylor, Peter and John Taylor and his sisters Kathleen Taylor, Maureen Taylor and Christine (Taylor) Joyce and their respective spouses and children.

Michael graduated from Fairfield University Summa Cum Laude, majoring in Finance and Economics. He brought these talents to the world of construction and then went on to earn his E1 license in the field of Electrical contracting. Over his 35+ years in the Electrical business as a Project Manager, Sr. Project Manager, Vice President and Director, he was responsible for the completion of hundreds of commercial projects and was well known and respected in the construction world.

Michael’s fondest memories from his childhood stemmed back to his youth, growing up on the beach, in their home, on the ocean in Westbrook, with his mother, his aunt Dorothy and his seven siblings. Fishing, swimming, boating, trapping lobsters, playing football and being a prankster. He loved the ocean and it was his dream to retire on the ocean… .

Michael was an avid sports fan, both in participating and being a spectator. His favorite football team was and always will be the Green Bay Packers, I’m sure he is already discussing strategy with the coach to help them win the super bowl in 2018. Over the last 20 years, golf became his active game and he played as often as he could with his children and while playing with them on May 25, 2009 he hit a hole in one.

When his first grandchild was born, on his birthday 5 years ago, they developed a special bond. It was an incredible thing to watch, as each grandchild came into the world after that, he turned into a child when he was around them, building tents in the house, snow forts for them outside in the winter… there wasn’t much they asked him to do, that he didn’t find a way to make happen, it was amazing.

Michael had everything going for him, a great sense of humor, intelligence, personality, charisma and class. He knew how to put people at ease and always make them feel welcome. His departure from this world is such a loss, Michael will be sorely missed every day… may he rest in Peace.
