Norwich- Michael Kutia 93, of Palmer Street died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center.
He was born in Norwich on January 22, 1921 son of the late Leon and Eva (Sakowitz) Kutia. Michael served his country honorably during World War II in the Army Air Corp. Mr. Kutia worked for many years at the Uncas on the Thames Hospital in Norwich.
On July 1, 1950 he was united in marriage to Adeline Bonomi at St. Mary’s Church in Norwich. Mrs. Kutia survives her husband of 63 years.
Michael was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norwich. He was also a member of the Thamesville Athletic Club in Norwich. Mr. Kutia enjoyed having Sunday dinners with his family and listening to polkas.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and his wife John and Shirley Kutia of Norwich, a daughter and her husband Nancy and James Podurgiel of Preston, a daughter in law Katherine Kutia of Bozrah, 5 grandchildren Jennifer, Richard, Samantha, Susan and Steven, a sister Helen Brusseau and a sister-in-law, Mary Perras. Michael was predeceased by a son, Michael J. Kutia, sister, Nellie Gillemette and a brother, John Kutia.
