Michael Korba age 86, of Chicago, IL/ Munster, IN passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017.

Michael is preceded in death by his dear wife Margaret “Peggy”; Father and Mother, Nicholas and Julia Korba; brothers and sisters, Mary Korba, Anne Johnston (William), Nicholas Korba, Marge Malovich (Paul), Nicholas Korba (May), William Korba, Helen Sudicky (George); and his beloved cats, Toby, Nippy  and Buster. He is Survived by his loving brother, Msgr. Frank Korba; many nieces and nephews.

Michael graduated from Hammond High School in 1948 and received an MBA from University of Chicago.

Michael was strong, caring, deliberate, and had great integrity. He was highly intelligent and passionate about his work, with a persistence that was never exhausted.

He became a CPA and had a long successful career including 32 years as the Treasurer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield, retiring at the age of 74.

He was innovative and had a bias towards action, always thinking, and saying “If I can vision it in my mind I can figure a way to do it”.

After living in Hyde Park for many years, He and Peggy moved to a beautiful condo overlooking Lake Michigan and Lincoln Park in the 1960’s. His many interests included following politics on the local and national level, dinners with family and friends, and weekend trips to Grey Goose Inn with Peggy.

Michael was a very warm, generous and kind man, and will be missed.
