Michael Joseph Markovitz, 86, formerly of Montville, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday morning (Oct. 5, 2016) in Tampa, FL. Michael was born in Hartford on Dec. 15, 1929. Early in his career, Michael was a firefighter with the City of Hartford. He was a roofing and siding contractor for many years. He was part of the generation serving in World War II. He leaves to mourn his passing his 17 children, Jennelyn Markovitz (with whom he made his home), Kathleen Coulombe, Michael Markovitz and his wife, Denise, Elizabeth Markovitz, Maureen Kopp and her husband, Dana, Eileen Maddox and her husband, Mark Van Wart, James Markovitz and his wife, Irena, Jane Markovitz, Sarah Markovitz, Chris Markovitz and his wife, Amy, Julianne Long and her husband, Shawn, Amy Sanders and her husband, Shea, Marc Markovitz and his wife, Dana, Maura Collins and her husband, Norm, Meghan Brammer and her husband, Adam, Molly Hallberg and her husband, Brian, and Katelyn Costill and her husband, Robert; along with 50 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his spouse, Maura; infant daughter, Mari; and by his first wife, Maureen.
