Michael John Frahm left this earth unexpectedly on March 30, 2022.
He was born in Des Moines, IA on January 13, 1953, to Arthur J. and
Betty A. Frahm.
Michael is survived by his wife Sara; sisters Nancy Frahm (Larry
Lowe) and Ann Irvine; step-daughter Denise Vazquez (Miguel),
grandchildren Sage and Matiana Vazquez; nieces Emily MacFarland
(Patrick) and Keeley Frahm-Lowe (Alex Murphy); great nephews and
niece Holden, Sam and Delia MacFarland. He was preceded in death
by his parents and brother-in-law Chuck Irvine, Jr.
Mike was larger than life with his huge heart and big gravelly voice,,
which has been imitated by many. He attended Windsor Elementary,
Merrill Jr. High, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des
Moines in 1971, after which he began concrete work. He later
established Frahm Concrete Construction, which he was still
operating. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and his
multitude of friends acquired from a lifetime in the Des Moines area.
He loved the peace of the Iowa countryside and his home in Prole,
and enjoyed spending time in the Tulum and Akumal, Mexico area
where he was a self proclaimed “beach bum”. In recent summers he
made time to get away to the family lake home on Turtle Lake in
northern Minnesota to fish and relax with friends and family.
A drummer in his younger years, he loved music. Mike was a faithful
Cubs Fan, was passionate about horse racing, riding his Harleys,
playing pool, at which he excelled, and having a beer (or two) with his
many friends. Mike was loved by so many, and will truly be missed!.
