Michael Lee Hudson, 73, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday April 13, 2015 at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood. Michael was born September 22, 1941 in Harriman, (Roane County) Tennessee, and was the son of the late Floyd M. and Pansy (Peters) Hudson. Michael graduated from Harriman High School in where he went on to serve in the United States Air Force.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 18 and the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard. Michael loved life and making people laugh. He umpired for 31 years, mostly high school athletics. He was proud of his legacy and knowing the rules and regulations of the sport. He ended his umpiring career at Edgewood High School where he was honored after the last game by Coach Mick Hammett and the team. Michael was also employed as a bus driver for MCCSC.
He was an avid lover of all sports and camping. For the last several years Mike could usually be found at a Bloomington South basketball or softball game, always with his Tennessee hat on. He is survived by his son, Brady Michael Hudson, of Powell, TN, daughter, Kimberly Gaye Burksey, of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Gabriel, Brandon, Michael Guy and Allison; one sister-in-law, Betty Raye Shipwash Hudson, of Harriman, TN, and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul M. Hudson and sister, Eula May McKinney.
