Michael Gibbs Jr., the second of three children born to Lois Walton Gibbs and Michael Gibbs Sr., was born on Aug. 2, 1937 in Vinegar Bend in Washington County. He accepted Christ as his eternal savior at an early age, entering into the care of Little Bethel Baptist Church.
Michael graduated from Rosa Lott High School in 1957 and was employed with Riley Stuart Supply Company for many years. He retired from Ciba-Geigy Corporation in 1997 after being employed 31 years. As an active member of Little Bethel Baptist Church, he served in various capacities such as, trustee, treasurer of Senior Choir, and former Assistant Sunday School Superintendent.
On Nov. 19, 2021, God called Michael Gibbs Jr. to come home to his eternal resting place.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Michael Gibbs Sr. and Lois Gibbs, and sister Lois Marie Stafford.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Clark Gibbs; two children, Paula P. Gibbs of Birmingham and Michael C. (Latoka) Gibbs of Montgomery; one sister, Jessie Louise Gibbs (Henry) Dixon of Citronelle; two grandchildren, Michelle J. Gibbs of Nashville, Tenn., and Michael Thomas Gibbs of Montgomery; sister-in law, Sarah Ann Williams of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-law Joe D. (Autherine) Clark of Mt. Vernon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Public viewing Nov.
