Michael Gary Simoneau, 38, of Cromwell, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 28th at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Britain, he was the son of Gary A. Simoneau of Cromwell and the late Edith “Eydie” (Bijas) Simoneau. Michael graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and spent a few years in the Amherst area with his many friends in the record business. He then started his restaurant career working with his Uncle Jan in Aiken, SC “his home away from home”. Michael returned home to Connecticut and began his sales career with Sysco Corp, a job he truly enjoyed. Michael loved to play golf and was a committee member of Portland Golf Course Men’s Club. Most of all, he loved his family and loved making them laugh. Michael is now resting in peace together with his Mom. Along with his father and his fiancée, Maria Prueher, Michael is survived by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Irene Bijas of Kensington; his sister, Nicole I. Manno and her husband, Jack of Fairfield; two beloved nephews, Jack and Luc Manno; his girlfriend, Bethanie Melkus of Cromwell; his aunts and uncles, Jan Bijas and his girlfriend, Cindy Adriano of Aiken, SC, Jeanie Simoneau of Cromwell, Marty and Carol Simoneau of Breezy Point, NY, Cheryl Simoneau and her fiancé, Phil Spreda of Cromwell and David and Theresa Simoneau of Atlanta, GA; many close cousins and his cat and best buddy, Mac.
