Michael Edward Cummings passed away on August 5, 2019.
Mike had been an educator for 30 years in the classroom and administration. He started his career when he chose the Five Points area for his student teaching assignment. He felt this was an opportunity for him to learn about the diverse population and their needs. However, he did not count on the teachers strike of 1969 which propelled him into the classroom on his own. It was a valuable experience for him. It wasn’t enough just to educate others, he had to continue to educate himself as well.
