Michael Earl Godsil, 80, of Galesburg, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at home.Mike was born April 19, 1938 at home in Knox County the son of William A. and Eleanor F. (Walker) Godsil.

He married Mildred “Mickey” C. (Mehaffey) Behrens on July 23, 1971 in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2009. Mike is survived by two sons, Gary (Kathleen) Reagen of Plymouth, MN and Marvin Behrens of Galesburg; three daughters, Leah Behrens of Galesburg, Diana Smith of Galesburg, and Nancy (Roger) Fones of Galesburg; seven grandchildren, Nick Fones, Justin (Kristin) Fones, Nathan (Erin) Reagen, Josh (Jessica) Reagen, Jay Behrens, Reagen Behrens, and April (Bill) Hughes; seven great grandchildren, Kaelyn and Keegan Fones, Cameron, Ian, Hope, Max, and Wes Reagen; and an honorary grandson, Donivan (Heather) Godsil, and an honorary granddaughter, Ellen (Ben) Petrila.

Mike is also survived by seven sisters, Alice Timmerman of Omaha, NE, Beatrice (Gary) Lundeen of Galesburg, Colette (Melvin) Slane of Peoria, Christine (Ricky) Cooper of Glencoe, Cecelia (Dan) Shea of Gilson, Loretta (Jerry) Bent of Oneida, and Julia (Tex) Jackson of Galesburg; five brothers, Patrick (Donna) Godsil of Galesburg, Dan (Jane) Godsil of New Windsor, Jess (Janet) Godsil of Galesburg, Kevin (Connie) Godsil of Galesburg, and Paul Godsil of Port St. Lucie, FL; and one brother in law, Joe “Bud” Mehaffey.

Along with his wife and parents, Mike was preceded in death by one son, Patrick M. Godsil; four brothers, Gordon, George, Stephen, and Matt.Mike worked for International Harvester for over 30 years, retiring in 1993. He served in the US Army. Mike was an avid collector of Farmall (IH) Tractors. He loved to read, especially western books and watching western movies. To Mike family was everything. He loved having his family together and it was important to him at Christmas for all the family children to receive a gift. He will be remembered as a man with a heart of gold and a great story teller.
