Michael “Mike” Dwyer, 74, of Stratford, CT passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 of lung disease. He was at peace, surrounded by his family, whom he loved with all of his heart.

Mike was born and raised in Torrington. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1966 and attended Quinnipiac University. He was a lifelong member of the Elks and owned a jewelry store in Torrington for many years. A beloved member of the community, he was known by all for his humor, biting sarcasm, and infectious laugh. Mike was an all-round amazing guy — a kind-hearted, sincere, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He wore his big heart proudly on his sleeve. He and his wife, Cheryl, moved to Oronoque Village in Stratford in 2005, where his community grew even larger.

Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl; his sons Jamie (Justin) and Sean (Jenny) and their son Jules Michael; his mother-in-law, Judith; his brothers-in-law John (Jane) and Craig (Janice); and his niece and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Thomas; his mother, Rose; and his brother, Thomas. He treasured his family and brought so much love and laughter to everyone who cared for him. A storyteller and humorist at heart, he was a reliable source of levity through his playful wit, especially when those around him needed it most.

A die-hard sports lover, Mike’s devotion to the Red Sox came second only to his family.

He was incredibly brave, fighting through decades of health issues with positivity, courage, and exceptional perseverance. He was one-of-a-kind and will truly be missed.
