On May 21, 2021, Michael F. Curtice died peacefully at home in Newnan, GA surrounded by his wife and daughters. Mike is survived by his wife Lynne Curtice; his daughters, Beth Thompson (Doug) of Decatur, GA and Jennifer Summey (Bill) of Dalton, GA; four grandsons, Zack and Alex Thompson of Decatur, GA and Will and Jacob Summey of Dalton, GA; two sisters and three brothers. He was preceded in death by one brother. Mike was born on May 25, 1947 in Washington, DC. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1965. Mike joined the Navy in 1967, and was stationed in Willow Grove, PA. Mike & Lynne married in 1968. While stationed in Pennsylvania they welcomed their first child. The family returned to the DC area in 1970 and grew their family to four. They lived in Maryland until 1979 when they relocated to South Carolina. Mike and Lynne moved to Decatur, GA to be close to family in 2006 and retired to Edisto Beach in 2015. Mike was active in many local organizations over the years. He coached baseball for the Lewisdale Boys & Girls Club, served as a trustee for University Baptist Church, led the youth of Olivet Presbyterian Church and served as the Clerk of the Session for Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church. In Decatur, Mike volunteered extensively with the MLK Service Project, Decatur Education Foundation and participated with the Atlanta Photography Group. He was named a Hometown Hero for his volunteerism. Botany Bay received the benefit of his time at Edisto Beach.
