Michael B. Solomey age 62, of DeMotte, IN passed away at his residence on Monday August 16, 2010.
He was born on September 12, 1947 in East Chicago, IN the son of Michael and Mary (Mazerik) Solomey, both deceased.
Michael had worked as a welder for Tri Fab & C&C Welding, Inc for over 20 years. On August 20, 1987 he married Karen Sue Phillips and she survives.
Michael served with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient.
Michael was a member of St Cecilia Catholic Church and the DeMotte American Legion Post # 440.
Michael is survived by his wife Karen; 2 sons, Shane (Kim) Solomey of Wheatfield, and Michael (Becky) Solomey of DeMotte, IN. 4 Stepchildren; Dennis (Kim) Hazi of Crown Point, IN; Jason (Vicki) Hazi of Lowell, IN; Nicholas (Stephanie) Hazi of DeMotte, IN & Kara Roberts of Mt Ayr, IN; 2 sisters, Anna Scepkowski of AZ and Mary (Ronnie) Fata of Highland ; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
