Michael Alan Sorrell, 62, of Indianapolis died peacefully at his home Friday morning after a
brief was born September.
Michael was a family-oriented man and a good friend to many. He loved sports and was a diehard fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Green Bay Packers. In 2012, he took the trip of a lifetime
to watch the Packers play at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He enjoyed playing and
coaching softball at Metro Softball and had a passion for animals, including most recently being a foster parent for Clancy’s Dream, a rescue organization for border collies.
He was a 1974 graduate of Southside High School, Muncie; received a certificate in computer programming for two years of study at Automation Machine Training Center, Kansas City, Missouri,attended Ball State University, where he studied computer science and business administration,and completed several ExecuTrain software certifications.
He was particularly proud, as a non-traditional student, of graduating from the Clarian Health Pharmacy Technician Program. He received his class’s highest honor as Clarian Pharmacy Program Preceptor of the Year in 2003 for outstanding course work and for assisting other students in the program.
He had a long and varied career that included working in computer technology in the early days of computer programming as well as being construction superintendent for Tri-Built Enterprises Inc., operations coordinator for The Promotion Company, furnace operator specialist for Pilkington Corp.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Lynn Sorrell, Indianapolis; his father,Silas Sorrell,
Muncie; his longtime companion, Becky Mayer, Indianapolis; two sisters, Donna Penticuff
( David), of Marion, and Cheryl Reynolds (Tony), of Muncie; two brothers, James
M. Sorrell ( Deanna), of Yorba Linda, California., and Gregory W. Sorrell (Debra), of Muncie; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many longtime family friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Sorrell, who passed December. 11, 2014, and a sister, Karen Hathaway, who passed on January. 14, 2014.
