Mervin Samuel Roberts passed away Tuesday, June 26, in Albuquerque after suffering from heart problems. Mervin was born in Hawley, Texas, on Sept. 20, 1935, to Samuel David Roberts and Lottie Ethel Hardison Roberts.

Mervin graduated from Trent High School and later joined the United States Army and served our country as a sharpshooter and an infantryshy;man. He served for four years and was honorably discharged in 1962. On June 24, 1955, Mervin married his sweetshy;heart, Marion Webb. While raising their four children, Mervin volunteered for 15 years with the summer boys baseball program, CAABC, in Carlsbad, N.M. He gladly served as President of the league for many years. Mervin worked for Ponca Wholesale from 1960-1984 in Carlsbad and Hobbs. He later opened his own wholesale business, Roberts Wholesale, in Hobbs until he retired in 1996. Mervin could be found as a spectator at his grandkids’ activities.

He attended Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, NM.

Mervin Roberts was precedshy;ed in death by his older brother, Raymond Roberts; two sisshy;ters, Aileen Sellers and Joyce Dobbs, both of Abilene; and his grandson, Kevin Roberts of North Richland Hills, Texas.

He is surshy;vived by his wife of 52 years, Marion Faye Roberts; four chilshy;dren, Merv Roberts, 46, of Hurst Texas, Perry Roberts, 45, of North Richland Hills, Gary Roberts, 45, of Hurst Texas, and Donnie Roberts,40, of Hobbs; two brothers, Kenneth Roberts of Clyde, Texas, and Jerry Roberts of Abilene. Mervin was loved and adored by his 16 grandkids: Brad, Sammy, Kara, Kadie, Weylin, Kevin, Farrin, Falon, Lauren, Tiffany Kruse, Megan, Chris, DJ, Brittany, Courtnie, and Kelsie Roberts.
