Merle H. Moore, age 79, of Eureka Springs, AR entered eternal life on July 2, 2012. He passed away at home with his family by his side. He was born March 13, 1933 in Durbin, WV to Thomas Franklin and Lottie Grace (Halterman) Moore. After graduation Merle served with the United States Army in Korea, as tank infantry, artillery and as a combat medic. He was a machinist for Rockwell International, making aircraft parts before moving to Arkansas in 1979. He worked for Wright Machine Shop and Duncan Industries, leaving to farm and manage chicken houses for Tyson, before retiring with his wife Dorothy of 18 years. They enjoyed traveling to Arizona each winter and going to crafts shows with his handmade stone jewelry and Dorothys painted slate artwork. He loved being outdoors, especially in his garden. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Eureka Springs. Merle was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Faye and one brother, Tom. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughters Misty and husband Brad Bailey and Amanda Wilson and husband David of Harrison, son Steve Moore and wife Tabitha of Omaha. Step children Pat Taylor, Mike and Earl McCalister of Eureka Springs and Alan McCalister of Windsor, MO, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brother John and sister-in-law Barb Moore, sister Ann Banton and husband Jim, all of Ohio, nieces, nephews and a host of friends who will miss his quick smile and good sense of humor.
