Merle D. Brattain, Jr., 66, Fortville, died January 13, 2011 at his brother’s residence after an extended illness.
He was born February 20, 1944 in Alexandria, Indiana, and resided in Fortville. Merle served his country in the US Marine Corp, the Navy and Reserves. He retired as the maintenance superintendent at Vera Court Apartments and had formerly worked maintenance at the Reformatory.
He is survived by his brothers, Richard Brattain of Hagerstown and Larry Brattain of North Carolina; sisters, Donna Brown of Anderson and Jamie Ann Clem of Jonesboro; step-children, David & Maria Brown and Denise Brown; daughter, Leanne Peltier; 9 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann McCoy Brattain on June 12, 2010.
