Merika “Missie” McGaster, a resident of Jackson, entered eternity May 25, 2022 while at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. Born Aug. 18, 1980 to Charlie Jackson and Ella Jackson, she was 41 years of age.
Merika was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church in Barlow Bend, under the leadership of Pastor Tommy Moore. She was a graduate of Jackson High School in the Class of 2000. Merika enjoyed laughing and joking with family and friends. She was known for being loving and caring; a loving mother, aunt, babysitter, and second mom to her nieces, Karmyn and Kynleigh Jackson.
Preceding her in death was her brother, Charlie “Bo” McGaster.
Merika leaves her cherished memories to her daughter, Akiah Washington; parents, Charlie Jackson and Ella Jackson; grandmother, Claudia McClain; sisters, Carla McGaster, Felesha McGaster, Erica McGaster and Victoria Jackson; brothers, Jessie Jackson and Jerome Jackson; nieces, Shamya Jackson, Makayla Thompson, Jonisha Clarke, Karmyn Jackson and Kynleigh Grace Jackson; nephews, Justavian Crayton and Davon McGaster; two god-children, Zaelyn Armstead and Skylan Leonard; two very devoted friends, Crystal Todd and Gregory Frowner; with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
