Meridian “Rita” Oliver-Jemmott, 57, most recently of Atlanta, GA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 13, 2015. Born in Eufaula, AL on December 7, 1957, she was the daughter of Will and Bettye (Reeves) Oliver. Rita grew up in Middletown where she attended Mercy High School and then Central Connecticut State. She was formerly employed by the City of Middletown as a police dispatcher and she worked for the State of Georgia Department of Revenue and for the Georgia Veterans’ Department. Rita spent the majority of her time helping others and will truly be missed by many. Along with her parents, Rita is survived by the siblings she grew up with, Debra Oliver of RI, Tayna Oliver-Perry (Chris) of Middletown, Deborah Kaye Dixon-Smith (Anthony) of Colorado Springs, CO and Tammi Oliver-Brown (Joel) of Savannah, GA. She also leaves to cherish her memories her grandmother, Bettie Womack and step grandfather, Johnny Lee Womack; her half brothers and sisters, Vivian Kidd, Gloria Witcher, Vanessa Gordon, Curtis Calloway, Alfonzo Calloway, Moses Gordon, Jr., Billy Cobb and Eddie Andrew Gordon; her Godson, Chris Bradley and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her grandfather, Will Oliver, Sr.; grandmother, Marie Oliver; great grandmother, Estelle Williams; grandfather, Edward James Robinson; biological mother, Betty Jean Gordon; uncles, Frank Oliver and Jimmy Womack; aunt, Christine Calloway and her brother, Rodney Dixon.
