Melvin “Beany” Wright, at 70 years of age, was born in Brooklyn, New York in Crown Heights. He was the middle son of Susan Wright and Joe Grant. Melvin entered into eternal rest at his home on the morning of Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Beany, as he was lovingly nicknamed, attended Franklin K. Lane High School, he was a member of the United States Army National Guard for a few years before he was employed at the Dunhill Food Equipment Corporation where he retired as a Sr. Welder and Metal Tool smith for 35 years plus.
Beany was preceded in death by his elder brothers Gene A. Wright, and Theodore Wright.
The activities and hobbies he enjoyed in his life were playing sports such as handball, baseball, paddleball and roller skate. He also enjoyed playing chess, barbecuing, shooting pool, dancing, and enjoying the music from his record collection. Cooking was a skill that he particularly loved to do over the years.
He is survived by his wife who spent 50 wonderful years with him, Janie Louise Wright; his loving sons: Melvin J. Wactor (and his wife Jenna), Tony A. Wactor, and his daughter Melba L. Wright-Cooperman (and her husband Richard); grandsons: Ronin J. Wactor, and Jeremiah Cooperman; his granddaughters Janise M. Spann, Madison A. Wactor-Kilkenny, and McKenzie J. Wactor; his sister Susan T. Muldrow; his brothers Keith Wright, and Wiley Wright (and his wife Tashia); his mother-in-law, Eartha Lee Wactor; brother-in-laws Jimmie Wactor (and his wife Verne), and Warren; his sister-in-laws Eartha Wactor and Sandra Momoe; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends .
