Melvin Walter Milburn, 77, died on December 5, 2015. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho to Clarence & Geneva (Eells) Milburn on February 12, 1938. At the age of 6, his parents bought the home where he grew up. He attended grade school at Riverside and High School at Marsing. He moved to Portland in 1961. He married Roselyn Beagley on December 22, 1961 and this union was blessed with 7 children, 38 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. They lived in Portland until March of 1963, then moved back to Caldwell. They bought the home place when Jim was 6 and Melvin spent the rest of his life there.
As a child, he worked in the fields alongside his other family members. He worked as a farmhand, as a seed cleaner at Allied Seed, Tamura Farms, NAPB, as a truck driver at Robertson’s Wholesale, then the last 15 years before retiring, he delivered The Idaho Press Tribune. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitars, and listening to Country and Gospel music. After retiring, he became an avid gardener. He spent most of the day working in the garden. He then shared his bounty with his children and anyone who wanted or needed it.
Melvin is survived by his wife Roselyn; 4 sons, Jim (Sheila) of Caldwell, Rod (Amanda) of Wilder, Randy (Pamela), Clancey (Robyn) of Caldwell; 3 daughters, Vicky (Danny) Combs, Tamra (Perry) Sevy and Cheryl (Jacob) Barker all of Caldwell, 38 Grandchildren and 42 Great – Grandchildren; 5 brothers; Orville, Don, Darrel (Mary), and Duane, all of Caldwell and Elvin (Gail) of Nampa; One sister Evyonne (Russel) Conger of Marsing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Geneva Milburn, 4 Granddaughters, Renee’ and Katie Milburn; Daja and Daline Sevy; 1 Grandson, Rodney Milburn; 3 Great Granddaughters, Emerson, Makenna and Teresa Milburn; one daughter-in-law, Sherril Milburn; two sisters, Viola Lacer and Lillian Anderson; 4 brothers-in-law, Everett Conley, Clarence Lacer, Lafe and Keith Anderson; 3 sisters-in-law, Shirley, Anita and Brenda.
