GROVELAND – Melvin S. Doucette, Sr., 81, of Groveland, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014, surrounded by his family at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen after living with Parkinson’s Disease for several years.
Melvin was born on January 6, 1933 in Wilmington, one of six children of the late Percy and Isabelle (Babine) Doucette. He was raised and educated in Tewksbury. Melvin is a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany as a Morse Code Operator.
Upon returning from overseas, he married Dorothy M. (Allen) Doucette in July of 1958 and they began their family together. Melvin has resided in Groveland since 1964 where they raised their children.
He spent the majority of his career with Packet Research, Andover, for many years, and retired from Essex Bank, Peabody in 1995.
His activities included golfing, life-long Boston Red Sox fan, Pontoon Boating, and wintering in Seminole, Florida and many fond memories with couples and friends at Lake Winnipesaukee. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends.
