Those left to honor Melvin’s memory are his wife, Sandy of Newton; son, Daniel (and Daphne) Davis of Newton; his daughter, Gwen Wigans of Muscatine, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Bailey and Abby Davis and Zach and Stu Wigans; his 3 brothers, Homer Davis of Prairie City, Iowa, Glen Davis of Worthington, Missouri, and Robert Davis of Unionville, Missouri; 3 sisters, Opal Probasco of Huntsville, Utah, Lois Nalley of Unionville, Missouri, and Dixie Burns of Monroe, Iowa; and his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albion Stanley and Josie (Scrivens) Davis; sister, Jean Burns; and a sister, Betty, in infancy.
Melvin graduated from High School in Unionville, Missouri. He served his country in the U.S. Army
He worked as a die inspector at the Maytag Company for 25 1/2 years, retiring in 2001.
